Stephen grew up in Beckley, West Virginia, and as a missionary kid in Siguatepeque, Honduras. His parents reached the Honduran people with the Gospel by serving as church planters. In college, Stephen studied Civil Engineering at West Virginia Tech. During this time, his passion for doctrine and truth was sparked. He began searching the depths of scripture to see if it could answer the profound questions of life. His scientific approach to study has strengthened him in his ability to teach and help explain deep concepts. This approach has not reduced the savoring of the beauty of the person of Jesus Christ, but instead, has strengthened his resolve for all peoples to know Christ in an intimate way in their hearts and minds.
Stephen met his wife Lindsay while serving on a medical mission trip in Peru. They have been married for 10 blessed years and have three little girls. The Bowers are also foster parents, so their house is always full of love and noise.
God lead the Bowers to Chattanooga through a new job opportunity several years ago. Stephen works as a structural engineer in an engineering consulting firm located downtown.
Stephen’s vision for The Gathering is to see men and women grow in maturity and understanding of the Word of God. In seeing Him, people will be transformed by the life giving, darkness shattering, power of the Gospel.
